My deep interest in Management and Computer Science research, esp. in the domains of  information management; software engineering management ;  inter-process communication; artificial intelligence; heuristic algorithms and energy conservation enabled me to be a proud author of the my research papers published in International peer reviewed Journals . The following is the list of my published research works -

  • Open Mobile Gateway – Accessing Enterprise Applications via Mobile Devices

    • UKSim-AMSS 14th International Conference on Modelling and Simulation, UKSIM 2011, Cambridge University, Cambridge, United Kingdom
    • Authors: Varun Mittal, Piyush Agarwal

Open Mobile Gateway (OMG) will provide secure and controlled access to multiple Enterprise Applications via the Mobile Devices. OMG will comprise of Open Mobile Gateway Components (OMGC) which is deployed behind the firewall of the enterprise and Open Mobile Gateway Adaptors (OMGA) which is in front of the firewall. The OMGC will communicate with one or multiple enterprise application while the OMGA will be configured for communication with the Mobile Network Operator (MNO).

  • Potter Model : A Change Compliant Software Development Lifecycle Model

    • Second International Conference on Intelligent Systems, Modeling and Simulation, ISMS2011, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Phnom Penh, Cambodia
    • January 24, 2011

A software development life cycle model based on predicting and deciding maximum possible changes which can come in the time line of project completion has been proposed. The model makes it easy for developers to manage the constantly changing requirements and specifications. This model instead of focusing on people and resources focuses on architecture. It is not a replacement for Agile and other iterative models. It is addition of a new perspective of architecture to the existing software development life cycle methodologies.

  • Inter Process Communication and Prioritization to Enable Desktop Advertisement Mechanism

    Authors: Varun Mittal, Shubham Gupta

This research paper tries to bring a new concept of desktop advertising mechanism by synchronization it with running processes and data on users’ side. This proposed approach works on basis of inter process communication interaction, scheduling, prioritization, desktop crawling and system calls. The running process status and data is fetched by proposed process, which will then seek relevant information from the remote ad server and display advertisements fetched based on keywords on user machine.

  • Processor Usage Monitoring and Management System

    • HP Innovate 2009, Hewlett Packard Labs Open Innovation Office
    • May 15, 2009

The objective of Processor usage monitoring and management System in workstations includes optimizing processor utilization , decreasing power consumption, earning carbon credits, reduction in wear and tear of hardware thereby enabling energy conservation and cutting costs. The savings would result from prolonged hardware life and reduced electricity bills.

  • An Encryption and Decryption Algorithm for Messages Transmitted by Phonetic Alphabets

    • Third International Conference of Soft Computing and Pattern Recognition (SoCPaR 2011), Dalian, China
    • October 14-16, 2011
    Authors: Varun Mittal
The proposed algorithm pertains to creation of a middle level message transmission mechanism between the highly sophisticated encryption technique and the messages transmitted by phonetic alphabet codes. The algorithm suggests two levels in the language with each level varying in complexity and advantages
  • Selective data stream blocking mechanism for networks

    • UKSim-AMSS 13th International Conference on Modelling and Simulation, UKSIM 2011, Cambridge University, Cambridge, United Kingdom
    • February 12, 2011
    Authors: Varun Mittal

A customized mechanism to detect, monitor and block the data packets according to the definitions submitted to the mechanism. The mechanism is robust easy to implement, maintain, update and enhance. The mechanism takes input as sample data packets which are to be blocked and checks those definitions with the data packets according to the protocols and algorithms which are a part of the mechanism.

  • Heuristic user behavior based hard disk fragmentation mechanism

    • UKSim Fourth European Modeling Symposium on Mathematical Modeling and Simulation EMS2010, Pisa, Italy
    • November 15, 2010
    Authors: Varun Mittal

Defragmentation as a technique is deployed in all the operating system to enhance system speed, search and memory operations. The proposed approach presents a customizable heuristic mechanism which makes the defragmentation processes a continuous process rather than be user driven. Various factors like folder behavior, frequency and magnitude of modification, user specific trends for disk utilization and usage enable the mechanism to provide a self learning adaptable system which optimizes the process of defragmentation.

  • Incremental Indexed Backup Technique

    • “International Journal of Cryptography and Security”, Vol.2, No.1
    • January 2009

A specialized backup technique aimed at enabling user to take incremental backups of data in a time efficient manner by just reporting the modified files in the selected areas and overcoming the obsolete file property’s date based categorization of files. An index of all the constituent files of the file system in a multiple level key hash table based data structure is created to record, update and maintain and the of backup status of all the files.
